Climate change is all the rage right now. The flood waters have broken and Climategate is official. Rumors have been circulating for years that the science behind global warming was bogus, but the scientists continued to push, environmentalists continued to shout, individuals and even entire countries who stood to gain financially continued to beg, and finally the politicians got on board.
Over the last several months, cover-ups, discouraged and even suppressed materials have been coming to light. Ian Plimer, an Australian geologist and out spoken critic of man made climate change theories had no problem getting his best-seller, A Short History of Plant Earth," but by 2009, environmental lobbying had become so intimidating, he had to search high and low to find a publishing house willing to take a risk on his latest controversial book "Heaven and Earth -- Global Warming: The Missing Science." June of 2009, brought out the scandal of information suppression at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). A 98-page report, co-authored by EPA analyst Alan Carlin, proported that the information being used by the EPA was out of date, that atmospheric carbon dioxide levels had increased while global temperatures had decreased, and that regulating said gases would not be an effective solution to control global climate. Not only did the EPA exclude these findings from a report released by the EPA in April 2009 but they also ordered Carlin to stop working on the climate change issue and pressured his boss to reassign him. In the last few days it was announced that computer hackers obtained proof of the global warming cover up. They obtained, perhaps illegally, 160 megabytes of emails from the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in England.

Why the climatologists get it wrong. Many of you are too young to remember, but in 1975 our government pushed "the coming ice age."
These communications were between several scientific researchers and lobbists who were discussing the destruction and cover up of any scientific data that did not support global-warming claims as well as how to discredit disenters. (more information) After all of this information coming to light, climate control regulations world wide should come to a screaching halt and be re-examined.
Yet despite the new research being published, the controversy surrounding these emails, and record low temperatures across the globe this year, Obama said on Tuesday, November 25th, 2009, after his talks with Indian and Chinese leaders that the world has moved "one step closer" to a "strong operational agreement" on climate change. A what? A global agreement on a fictional "emergency". Obama, are you really that out of touch? Perhaps you are getting your news from the tabloids? Yeah, that must be it because this week the White House also announced that a handful of Hollywood Celebrities had received coveted invitations to the first White House State Dinner of the Obama administration.

Or, maybe, Obama is once again showing his true political agenda, socialism, facism, dare I say it? New World Order? Before you laugh at me, consider the "infomational note" issued by the United Nations in March 2009 which envisions climate change agreements which include a the reordering of the world economy including the transfer of millions of dollars of wealth, industrial relocations causing millions of jobs to be lost in industrial nations and moved to different countries, new taxes, tariffs, subsidies, and complicated adjustment schemes which would all be overseen by the world body.

Or more recently, the comments of the new European Union President, Herman van Rompuy on November 19, 2009. "...the climate crisis that threatens our very survival...yet these problems can be overcome by a joint effort in and between our countries. 2009 is also the first year of global governance with G20 in the middle." Global Governance? Didn't the G20 meet in our very own Pittsburg, Pennsylvania this summer?

Oh yeah, that's when the they tested Accoustic Weapons on US citizens. Comments and actions like these have to leave you wondering if there was not some alternative agenda driving the Anthropenic Global Warming cause since its inception. And if this global regulation agenda exists here, where else is it being pushed, at what cost, and just how far will it go?

Thank you breakfastpop. My honest opinion is that there is enough reason to doubt both sets of data and even more reason to doubt those who stand to gain fnancially and politically from climate regulations. The UK has already adopted some insane regulations that tax the hell out of their industries and citizens and give that money to other countries. I don't want to see the US do the same. Simply giving money away to other countries is bad fiscally policy if nothing else. It would create more problems than it solves.
In addition, I can't deny what these people and organizations have said and done in regard to global regulations. My country was created to have a government for the people, by the people. We are having enough trouble regaining that status as it is and I don't believe that my government has any right to subject myself and my fellow citizens to any kind of "higher" global authority.
I am all for cleaning up and perserving the environment. In fact, among other things, I've created my company to be almost completely paperless in a paper intensive industry. There are good ways and bad ways to "go green."
Happy Hubber - I agree with you wholeheartedly that there are good ways and bad ways to go green. Going paperless is one of the best things you could do for the environment.
And I agree that some of the regulations proposed to deal with global warming are problematic.

There is plenty of evidence for global warming caused by CO2 emissions. You mentioned people who stand to profit from new global warming regulations. Don't forget that there are many who profit from our delay in enacting global warming. Oil, gas and coal have made our civilization - and they have made many people very very rich. There is a propaganda war going on, and people who stand to make a profit on both sides.
All we have are the facts and the science. The supposed "climategate", if you examine the emails and study the papers and learn about the techniques, is not about scientists creating some conspiracy. It's about scientists doing science.
William, I respect your opinions and most certainly appreciate your sharing your hubs detailing another point of view. I always encourage people to research a topic and form their own conclusions and encourage my readers to that in this case as well.
I also agree that there are plenty of people who stand to profit from delays as well. Honestly, I don't have anything against people profitting from anything (well anything that doesn't hurt others at least). I do object to "global regulations of any kind" and discourage national regulations unless absolutely necessary. Even in the last two years private industry and private citizens have made huge leaps toward embracing more environmentally friendly attitudes and practices and I firmly believe that trend will continue regardless of the truth or fiction behind global warming, we damage our environment in many ways, every day, that is an undisputed fact. I also believe that a great deal of that trend is due to the efforts over the last few decades to educate the public about the environment and that education needs to continue.
Thank you for a very iinformative hub and having read an article in the paper about a book written by Christopher Booker who has quite a few interesting points. I wrote a hub about it because it shows ideas which we were not aware of, at least I wasn't.

Great hub! I want to share with you the following quote from one of Rev. Benny Hinn's newsletters:

We need to pray that this doesn't happen! The U.N. meeting started today. Only God can stop it.
Any which way you slice it they will shove whatever they want down our throats. Copenhagen is continuing despite evidence that they are wrong and investigations being started in countries such as the US, Australia, UK, Saudia Arabia, and more. And today, news came out that the Environmental Protection Agency in the US will most likely declare Carbon Dioxide and 4 other gases as pollutants and begin regulating them. They can do this without Congressional approval. They can do this despite the fact that they may be wrong, and despite the extraordinary damage they will inflict upon our fragile economy.

And why you ask would they do such a thing and what does it have to do with the grand scheme? How about the Cloward Piven strategy? Look into it, but don't go to Wikipedia. The Cloward Piven strategy talks about collapsing the system by overwhelming it with people signing up for entitlement programs. That's right, expand entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the new health care reforms, Unemployment, Cash for Clunkers, new home rebates, the list goes on. Then get as many people as possible to sign up for these programs. The system will get overloaded and collapse. If the system collapses, something must take it's place. And they are actively manuevering to be ready to implement that new system because didn't you know, the US is too big to fail??
Can the EPA really be the straw that broke the camel's back? Not alone. Add to it the massive Federal spending and stimulous packages that have brought our national dept to unstastainable levels. We will default.
How about the massive Federal investments and manipulations that have caused the stock and commodity markets to look like a safe investment. They will pull out and everyone else will be left hanging.
How about the massive printing of money and devaluation of the dollar? What will happen when the dollar is no longer worth anything? What will our massive investors, communist countries like China, do when we default and our dollars are worthless? I don't know, collect on their assests in the form of land? Political power and control? I honestly don't know and I don't want to find out.
Unfortunately, when you add all those things up, it's a very scary picture.
Thank you for writing this hub! When you look at the big picture it is obvious what is happening around the world. This has been coming on for several decades. They start by brainwashing the youth of the world and 30 years later they have control.
We can learn a lot from a study of Hitler's strategies. I had hoped we would learn how to avoid it ever happening again, instead it appears, the lesson learned was how to be more successful this time around. Interestingly enough, the lie is still the same.
People need to pull their heads out of...wherever they stashed them and realize what is going on.

I'm kind of amazed that you think that some shadowy conspiracy of world leaders is more likely than global warming.
Please study the facts about global warming. The science is well established, but there is a very concerted media campaign to discredit that science. Much of the stuff in the emails has been distorted - and many of the facts about how the earth is really cooling and whatnot are cherrypicked or downright wrong.
You are being manipulated.
